I just sat down to watch a show I recorded Saturday March 17, 2016 at 9pm. Investigation Discovery, I'd Kill For You, season 3, episode 9 titled Agent of Death. Recorded on SD channel because the ID show at 8pm was recorded on HD channel and I have to add a minute to end of 99% of everything I record in order to get the last 20 or seconds of the show. Since X1 will not clip the beginning of the following show on the same channel my method works to get the end of a show.
Anyway, it was starting to get good.
Suddenly, without warning, at the 11 minute mark I was presented with a black screen with white letters that said DVR.
Not knowing what happened I started the show again, fast forwarded to the 9 minute mark and once again at 11 minutes the black screen.
I will never know who got murdered, who did it and why. The espisode is not set to be shown again anytime in the near future. That show is not available in On Demand.
But wait, there's more. Another show on a different channel set to record at 9pm stopped at the 12 minute mark. Another black screen. No future airings of the show. MeTV is not part of On Demand.
When my husband discovers that Svengoolie-Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1942) he will not be a happy camper and I will have to listen to him fuss, once again, about the X1 system and how he had it better with his legacy box.
Alas, my 8 year old grand-daughter, who loves the old Frankenstein and Dracula movies, will not get to see that one when she is here in 2 weeks. He saves those for her viewing pleasure. The child has become a fan of Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney-both are in the movie that only lasts 12 minutes.
There was no power outage. No interruption of X1 service. No emergency broadcast alerts.
So why did the only 2 shows set up for 9pm recording present us with a (not so) lovely black screen?
It was just starting to get really good when, suddenly, at the 11 minute mark, the screen went black with big white letters that said DVR.
Having no clue what happened, I started watching it again and fast forwarded to the 9 minute mark. Once again, at 11 minutes a black screen.
All indications are that the entire show recorded.
So now I will never know who got murdered, who did it and why it was done.
The episode is not scheduled to air anytime in the near future. That show is not available in On Demand.
to trouble shoot this issue it would be great if you have enabled the cloud DVR. If the recordings have been deleted, recover them from the deleted items folder and then view in the xfinity X1 app or at web page for desk/laptop at http://xtv.comcast.net
