I've read elsewhere some time ago that upconverting from progressive is easier than upconverting from interlaced. Not sure why that would be.

That said, last night I set my daytime TV to 720P so far can't see any difference. I do use a 32 or 34 inch vizio (can't remember the size) and I can still easily read the vanity card on Big Bang Theory shows ending credits that is in very small print.

Rusty, do you suppose you know of a source for upconverting from progressive?

I did a few searches since I don't remember the articles by source I've read about this, but found this video which IMO comcast should reference in all future emails/notices/web page communications about conversion to 720p.

http://petapixel.com/2012/05/09/hd-video-explained-why-720p-is-better-than-1080i/

I can understand the issue of progressive being best for comcast to store for mpeg4 streaming to devices and to store in cloud DVR. I hope that going progressive (full picture by picture) format that that will speed up the slow-motion, jog-shuttle, frame advance feature we all want so much.

Thank you.  So, I THINK setting ALL my X1 boxes to 1080p is correct.  I DO have three 720p TV's, but I think setting those X1 boxes to 1080p is still the correct setting for them.

I'm thinking the opposite due to my thinking that comcast's equipment providers used generic commodity chips whereas the TV manufacturer used top of the line video chips to upscale.
