I used to have an HD DVR. When I wanted to record a show for time-shifting, I could have the rcording stop after the time that the show was expected to end. The selections were 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 1-1/2 hours, and 2 hours.

This made a big difference for some shows, such as "60 Minutes" on Sunday night. It gets delayed by NFL games, sometimes as long as 45 minutes after the show is supposed to start. I would set the DVR to record for 1 hour extra, to be sure of getting the entire 60 Minutes show.

Now I have X1 - but the "keep recording" times have been severely reduced. X1 has just 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 1/2 hour. That's not enough time when NFL games keep right on going.

Comcast, change the code to offer what a DVR used to be able to do!

each monday I review the listings for 'red' episodes that will record that are after sports and live programs. I select the next hour of shows after them to record to be sure I get the whole recording.
