Take the DVR to a comcast service center and request a 6 tuner DVR. Don't delete the recordings on the old one. the last 60 will play back thru the DVR (will say 'cloud DVR' for source when you hit the OK button while playing). When you hook it up and it boots up successfully, press the xFinity button on the remote, select the gear(settings) >> Device Settings >> scroll to bottom and select Sync DVR >> sync DVR Now. That will tell the cloud server to update the DVR so you don't miss any scheduled recordings.
RustyBen, I have been out of the country and catching up on here. I can record 5 and watch one live so doesn't that mean I have 6 tuners? Please correct me if I am wrong. If I can get more I would love it but want to make REAL sure I can do as you said and sync to get the cloud to put my recordings on the new DVR. I am not a trusting soul when it comes to something like that. Have replaced DVR once before and lost all recordings and knew I would. Maybe things have changed but I am not hopeful. I replaced it before we had the cloud which I do not use for anything. We had dozens and dozens before we left for vacay and after two weeks away...OMG.....its unreal how many recordings we have to binge watch.
your PXD (xiD) companion box uses a tuner from and XG2 companion box if one is in the home or an XG1 DVR. If the xiD is in use the DVR supplying the tuner would have only 5 tuners left to record/watch. Swapping the xiD for an XG2 would restore the 6 tuners available for the DVR because the XG2 has it own tuner.
