My installer put one of these amplifiers outside my house where the drop comes in and has all of my rooms connected to it. Although I only have 3 TV's active to it right now. My question is how much boost does this give my TV signal ? Is it possible it could give too much ? I don't have any issues what so ever with my system. I am merely interested in how this thing works. One TV has a 3 way splitter going to the modem, the TV and the third port is capped. Other TV has 2 way splitter, going to TV and the other port capped. 3rd TV has no splitter at all. He said I needed the splitters because the signal was too high on these sets. SMH, because he put in an amp also. Like I said, have no issues and my X1 works perfectly.
it is a 'unity' or zero-gain amplifier which means in essense it is a loss-less splitter. The signal comes in, and instead of losing signal by using a splitter, the amp brings the signal up to the original level coming into your home on each 'tap'.
