I know I could upgrade to X-whatever as a triple play and just ignore the phone part of it. But isn't there a charge for the phone service component? Why doesn't Comcast Xfinity offer it as a Double-Play too? It feels like a waste to do Triple Play and after 2 years pay for an extra phone service we won't use.
I have the double play and 'kept' my home phone by porting it to google voice (it forwards calls to both of our cell phones, as well as ringing the home phones that are hooked up to an obi adapter.
