i recently had a service call to clear up a poor internet download issue. the repairman ran a new cable and restored some service. he told me a was losing the rest of my signal thru my net gear router and he suggested that i install the latest comcast modem to resolve this issue. some time ago i received a new free upgraded modem in the mail, when i tried to install it ,it wouldnt work and i returned it to my local serv center. they didnt have a replacement at the time so i continued to use my old modem..when i called comcast service for a replacement they now tell me its going to cost about $50 to replace the modem. when i spoke to an agent to set up my most recent service call i told him about returning the defective upgraded modem and asked if the service man could install a new modem during this sevice call . the agent told me he could do that. when i asked the service man about this he said he could not install a modem because mine was still working. the service man told me that if i take my modem to the service center, they would exchange it at no cost. well i thought i would contact the service center to be sure they had the new modem and that i could exchange it ,but guess what, the phone number listed is the same one you call that after about five minutes of navigating an automated menue you end up with someone who barely speaks english and its the same dept that told me it would cost $50 to replace my old modem.sorry for the long rant but it seems comcasts definiton of world class service is a runarround the world to get answers. direct tv is looking better every day

on your bill it tells you your internet level? when you use comcast's own speedtest (tests ipv4 and ipv6 at same time) does the measured speed equal or exceed the stated levels? preferably do the test on a wired internet connection. smart devices and laptops will need to be on 5.0 ghz radio connection to ensure enough throughput. http://speedtest.xfinity.com/

note that iphone and perhaps android devices will not run that web  site but the speedtest app should work by Ookla.
