comcast is offering some good packages with a 2 or 3 year contract (can't remember if 2 or 3) in Atlanta. the 24 down chans on best day and conditions barely can support (docsis 3.0) 1 gbit/sec with 32 needed to provision the standard 20-25% over the advertised rate. If i remember correctly it as about $150/month for unlimited. If no contract taken then month limit 1 TB is in effect. The point of that 'expensive' cost on fail to take the 2-3 year contract is to stop churn of their higher end internet to other providers FiOS and to compete with FTTP without expense of running the fiber to the customer premises.
