Irrelevant, if someone doesn't want x1 service its their choice whatever the reason may be. The old website worked with older comcast equipment, now it doesn't and comcast made the change without informing their customers. Poor business practice.
Thank you so much for this posting: wish I could give you a thousand kudos for it. Not everybody needs (or can afford) the "bells and whistles" set up -- but end up being either forced into it (Comcast isn't the only offender in this) or left out in the cold. Not exactly the way to treat long-time loyal customers, not to mention lost business -- customers who go away. Seeing as how that old program grid was still available along with the new one being in place, I don't see why that can't apply on a normal basis. Kind of like giving you a choice of narrowband or broadband, depending on your setup.
a DVR with 6 tuners, remote access to all recordings, ability to download recordings to play back where no internet is available nor needed. The ability to use any device to watch anything in the home. The awesome voice remote. sweet! bells well worth a whistle or two.
The learning curve is easy and the price is the same. I waited for a year while the new system problems were worked out but can recommend it as a free upgrade to anyone still using the old legacy system.
But you also lose a few features: Reminders (have they added it yet?) The ability to swap tuners so you can sort-of watch two things at the same time (I sometimes may put the news on one tuner, and a show on the other. During commericals, I'll switch to the news and just skip through what I don't want to see. No need to waste DVR space with a recording.)
Reminders were added to x1 months ago. swapping is easy but if you don't have it might sound hard to use. with 6 tuners you can just start up recording to six at any time and use the last button to swap to any or all of the 6 with ease while playing back the recordings.
for 2 chans..example.. tune to chan A and hit red button to record. tune to chan B and hit red button to record. now xfinity button at any time recordings and start A's recording (watch) then B's recording (could also be C,D,E, &F). now you can swap at any time.
you could also use any handy lap/desktop, tablet, phone to watch the other recording for a 2 or 3 screen experience all at same time.
